The Zodiac

Monday, June 13th, 2011

Every once in a while I think about serial killers, like David Berkowitz, Jeffrey Dahmer and John Wayne Gacy. Those three, however, were all caught and punished, or more. There is one which seems to intrigue people to this day… me included: The Zodiac Killer

He’s unnamed, unknown and left puzzles which he claimed would lead the police to him. People claim to know who he is. Some people claim to know more than that. I have personally heard some of these claims myself. Still, he remains an enigma and may stay as such eternally, much like Jack the Ripper.

Today I found a site dedicated to him. Perhaps you’ll figure out the cyphers and shed a little light on the situation.

Into the Holes

Friday, March 26th, 2010

I don’t even remember where I first found this video, but it still makes me just a touch queasy. Worse, I just can’t stop watching it. The combination of the music and the visuals is enough to compel and turn the stomach at the same time. Cheers for an unsettling time.

Alice

Friday, March 26th, 2010

I went to see Tim Burton’s Alice this past weekend. Suffice to say, I agree with many of the critics. Burton has fallen into a rut and I fear we may have seen the best of his work come and go already. That said, I was searching Rotten Tomatoes for input on how other people felt about the movie. What I came across first was a surprise. A mixed live-action and stop-motion animation movie was made back in 1988 called “Alice.” Moreover, Rotten Tomatoes gave it 100%. I’ve never seen a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes before in my life so I had to see what I could find.

What I uncovered on YouTube was everything which was promised. Weird, kind of cool and, as my wife put it, creeptastic. I need to buy a copy of this movie. I need to do so ASAP. From the clips I’ve seen it makes me think of David Lynch, re-making Eraserhead around the Alice in Wonderland story line.

I recommend turning the sound down on the movie, and playing Alice from Sunn O))) as the background music instead. It adds an extra, creepy-longing feel. Both are provided below.

Eliza and the Batman

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

I have a thing for religious icons. I don’t know why, but their straightforward portrait style warms my heart. Eliza Gauger states she has developed a Batman fetish and plans to draw only Batman for the entirety of this year. I find her particular style fun and amusing. Below is the latest Batman creation I am aware of, the Batman Ikon.

Suck.

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

Suck.com, how I miss you. It’s been many years since I last read you, but I knew you had to still be out there. Sure enough, you are. On the other hand you aren’t. You went fishing in 2001 and never came back. Did the Loch Ness monster eat you? Perhaps Lycos drove the final nail. Either way, I miss your clever quips. Your insightful yet patronizing tone. Your bad attitude. Thankfully, I still have the archive to refer to. Thank you for that.

To the rest of you, it’s all your fault. So says the image.

It's all your fault.

The ASDA mix on WIRE

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

This is weirdly amazing. Thanks to WarrenEllis.com for an online source for such fantastic weirdness. This music, from what I understand, was recorded to be played in grocery stores, but the project was scrapped when they got strange reactions from their test audience. Now we can enjoy it. It’s like a bad Space Mountain acid trip.

Li’l Hitler

Friday, January 29th, 2010

Since we’re doing Hitler stuff, let’s take a quick look at Li’l Hitler from Robot Chicken. It’s nothing to do with Apple or the iPad. It’s simply history in very brief. Enjoy.

Hitler and the iPad

Friday, January 29th, 2010

There are a bunch of these Adolf Hitler videos. Hitler throwing a fit over having his Windows Live account suspended, Hitler throwing a fit over gaming systems and so on. So far, this one is my favorite. Hitler finds out that iPad doesn’t live up to the rumors. Who knew old Adolf was such an Apple fanboy?

Zombies from Candyland

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Remember that game Candyland you played as a kid? Imagine if, one morning, you awoke to discover that all of the kids had been zombified. It might end up looking a little like the photos I was sent from the Behance Network. Have a look at these candy zombies.

Art, Deception and Slaughter

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

If I had $2500 to purchase this, I would be so tempted to bid. As of the time of this writing, there are only 2 days and change left on the auction so you might not get to see the full wonderment. Due to the fact that I fear what horrible things lawyers can rain down upon me, I’ll not reproduce the entirety of the agreement you must abide by upon purchase.

In brief, this item is a self-proclaimed work of art. It offers itself up for auction every 7 days. That’s all it does. You are bound, by the agreement, to keep it connected to a live internet connection so it can continue to perform this single function. If someone purchases it, you are bound to sell it. You are not allowed to bid on it if you own it as that is shilling and against Ebay policy. The terms go on and on. In the end, you would only purchase it to sell it again. I love this idea. This is what it looks like:
