Peter Steele died yesterday, April 14th from heart failure My twitter feed looks like a funeral procession today. Rather than saying a million standard death-cliches, let’s just have a few words from the man, himself, on people and dying. Good night, Peter.

Good Night, Pete
Thursday, April 15th, 2010Eliza and the Batman
Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010I have a thing for religious icons. I don’t know why, but their straightforward portrait style warms my heart. Eliza Gauger states she has developed a Batman fetish and plans to draw only Batman for the entirety of this year. I find her particular style fun and amusing. Below is the latest Batman creation I am aware of, the Batman Ikon.
Suck.
Thursday, February 18th, 2010Suck.com, how I miss you. It’s been many years since I last read you, but I knew you had to still be out there. Sure enough, you are. On the other hand you aren’t. You went fishing in 2001 and never came back. Did the Loch Ness monster eat you? Perhaps Lycos drove the final nail. Either way, I miss your clever quips. Your insightful yet patronizing tone. Your bad attitude. Thankfully, I still have the archive to refer to. Thank you for that.
To the rest of you, it’s all your fault. So says the image.
Brilliant Commentary
Friday, January 8th, 2010A little slice of brilliance comes through in the BoingBoing comment areas every so often. Today was a shining example. In a discussion about global warming someone brought up tsunamis, another person pointed out that earthquakes cause tsunamis which led to the following quote:
Earthquakes are caused by Godzilla waking up, and he wakes up when it gets warmer. Ergo, global warming causes earthquakes which cause tsunamis.
Nothing like a good spokesperson from the geek crew to steer the conversation in just the right direction.
God Hates Protesters
Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009Ever see protesters standing on the side of the street just aching to be smacked? Ever wish you had the unapologetic, solid-brass balls to go and give them shit? You’re not alone. Apparently, aside from hating gays and several other things, God hates protesters. This was the little slice of genius I needed to start my morning off right.
Holding a Gun Sideways: Street or Hollywood?
Monday, December 21st, 2009From all I can gather, holding a gun sideways is a little street and a lot Hollywood. Slate covers this question with a slick bit of research. Apparently, people have been holding guns sideways for quite a long while, but it didn’t become truly popular until movies depicted side-gripping. Though, it seems efficient for using a machine gun to lay waste to a crowd. Read the Slate answer and see the image below.
SHOPPED! Hotel Photos vs. Customer Photos
Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009It’s amazing, the stuff I find in my e-mail when I get up. I have found myself saying “hm, what am I going to post today?” I always seem to have an answer before the day even begins. Strange how that works.
Oyster.com is a site dedicated to giving you the straight facts on what a hotel is like. That, by itself, is pretty cool as they provide their own snaps and reports on the luxury hotels they stay at. On top of that, they have a blog dedicated to image comparisons that are off the charts. Either by photo trickery or by outright photo editing, the photos bear no resemblance to the reality of life at the hotel. See the screencap below as an example:
